Lahore: The World Athletics Day will be celebrated on Friday (today) throughout the world. In Pakistan, different athletics events are scheduled to be held to mark the World Athletics Day in several cities.
On this occasion, Director General Sports Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar said that it was an important day for the athletes across the globe. “Athletics is called ‘mother of all sports’ and that’s why all the sports bodies of the world are concentrating on this sport more than the other events,” he elaborated. “SBP is doing all out efforts for the promotion of athletics not only in Punjab but the entire country. One can see our teams’ performances in recent past. We overwhelmingly won the Boys and Girls Championship trophies in Inter-Provincial Youth Athletics Championship at Karachi two weeks ago,” he added.
Usman further told that the way our young athletes were achieving success at national level, it showed that our future was bright in athletics and our players will definitely gain success at international level in future,” he predicted.
