Lahore: Punjab Minister for Excise & Taxation, Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman has said that fashion & design, paintings and fine arts competitions help polish talent of the youth.
He said that Punjab government is utilizing all out resources for the promotion of education specially in the field of technical education and an amount of Rs.244 billion is being utilized for the promotion of education sector which is 26% of the budget.
He expressed these views at the closing ceremony of Thesis Display 2014 at Pakistan Institute of Fashion and Design (
The Minister accompanied by the Acting Vice Chancellor PIFD Prof. Hina Tayyeba visited the exhibition area and appreciated students’ thesis / collection. PIFD is a premier institute in Pakistan, imparting design education in a large variety of areas including Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Marketing and Merchandizing, jewellery Design and Gemological Sciences, Furniture Design and Manufacture and Leather Accessories and Footwear.
Mujtaba Shuja ur Rehman said that Punjab government considers education as a tool to development and a record funds have been provided for school and higher education. He said that cooperation and grants are also provided to educational institutions for the promotion of designing fine arts and other job oriented education besides extracurricular activities.
He said that these competitions/exhibitions help polish the talent of students besides they get awareness about the latest techniques in respective discipline.
