Punjab government introduces “E-Learn Punjab” Programme

Minister EducationLahore : The Punjab government has introduced “E-Learn Punjab” Programme under Punjab School Education Reforms roadmap throughout the province by completing digitalization of all the curricular books being taught at different levels of elementary and high schools.

While addressing the launching ceremony of “Active Classroom Technology” designed by the British Educational Organization Promethean here today, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that federal government has arranged local manufacturing of Haire laptop while the Punjab government was in the process of agreement with another world famous brand to establish laptop assembling plant in Lahore which would become feasible after minimum period of one year.

He said that  government has given green signal to UK Trade and Investment (UK TI) to join hands with Socio Engineering Consultant Group of Pakistan to introduce latest UK active classroom technology to benefit the education system in Pakistan.

The Minister welcomed proactive cooperation between Pakistan and Britannia to transform Pakistan’s future through promoting quality education in Pakistan.

British Deputy High Commissioner, Karachi John A. Tucknott who is also working as Director UK TI Pakistan, expressing his views in the ceremony said, the UK government is strongly committed in bring transformation in Pakistan through introducing such technologies which will not only contribute to the betterment of Pakistan’s future but strengthen the bilateral relations between the UK and Pakistan.

Technology is changing and reshaping the world around us particularly in the education sector. The educational institutes in UK have started using efficient ways to carry out their tasks. Technology can help teachers be more creative and improve their educational standards using modern approaches, the Deputy High Commissioner added.

Senior Education Consultant for Promethean UK, Peter Ormerod said on the occasion that the goal of active classroom technology is to help learners realize their potential and raise their personal achievement in their lifelong learning journey.

The interactive digital content would provide the Pakistani teachers an opportunity to benefit from this innovative technology and the students’ engagements, participation and assessment will increase through interactive classroom experience.

Chief Executive Officer SE Group MS Sonia Saleem informed on the occasion that his consultancy group in collaboration with Promethean and UK TI has installed the active classroom technology in 20 schools as a pilot project which will be extended to 25 thousand classrooms and 50 thousand teachers will be imparted training for proper use of this technology in the near future.
