Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Price Control Committee, Bilal Yasin has said that Punjab government has prepared Ramzan package for providing essential items to the consumers at affordable rates during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. He said that under this package, Sastay Ramzan bazaars would be set up with the cooperation of traders’ community at different places where fruits, vegetables and other commodities will be available at cheaper rates than market.
He expressed these views while presiding over a meeting of price control committee at committee room of Civil Secretariat, here today.
Secretaries of Agriculture, Health, Industry, Transport, Livestock and Food Departments besides DCO Lahore and other senior officers were present. The meeting was informed that meetings have been held with the flour, ghee and sugar mills associations for the provision of daily use items at cheaper rates in Sastay Ramzan bazaars. The office-bearers of associations assured that flour, ghee and sugar will be available in abundance in Sastay Ramzan bazaars.
The meeting was informed that prices of daily use items at utility stores will be reduced. Secretary Industry told that reduction of Rs. 15 each in the prices of per dozen eggs and per kg meat has been announced. He said that a subsidy of 21.263 million rupees will be given on Basin (gram flour) and fine (Maida) during Ramzan-ul-Mubarak. Similarly, dates will be sold for Rs. 142 per kg and Basin for Rs. 60 per kg.
Bilal Yasin said that mill owners should cooperate with the government during Ramzan-ul-Mubarrak for the provision of essential items to the people at reasonable rate. He said it is vision of Chief Minister that relief should be provided to the people during Ramzan-ul-Mubarrak and all out measures are being taken in this regard. He said that provision of essential items at affordable rates and in abundance would be ensured during the month of Ramzan.
