Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League -Q senior central leader and former Deputy Prime Minister Ch Parvez Elahi has said that we had made Punjab polio free, N-League was trying in vain to take credit of our work in Punjab, people were fully aware that polio was eliminated from the province during our tenure through day and night hard work and when our term had ended in 2007 number of new cases of polio had been reduced to zero in Punjab.
Ch Parvez Elahi said in a statement issued here today that we had started a successful and effective campaign at a cost of Rs 6. 50 billion for elimination of polio as well as hepatitis, AIDS and other dangerous diseases in collaboration and assistance of World Health Organization (WHO), UNICEF and other international donor agencies, likewise in cooperation with the districts governments and the international agencies phased and timely surveys and other preventive measures were being taken under Malaria Roll Back Project.
Ch Parvez Elahi further said that N-League during its tenure has given a gift of dengue to Punjab only due to which thousands men, women and children had already expired so far and were expiring.
He maintained that our performance in health sector in Punjab was praised and appreciated by all international organizations including World Health Organization (WHO), ADF, UNICEF, if N-League has objection to Tehrik-e-Insaaf govt in Khyber Pukhtoonkhwah (KPK) then in comparison should come out with the performance of its govt in Punjab, if any. He said if N-League’s own performance in Punjab was zero then it does not mean that it should start taking for the works we had started and completed during our tenure of government.
