Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister on Health Kh. Salman Rafique has said that Health Department has set up polio vaccination and certification centers at 135 places including all airports, government hospitals and offices of EDOs Health in the province.
He stated this while talking to media during inspection of counters set up for administering polio drops to the passengers traveling abroad in accordance with the directions of World Health Organization at Lahore Airport today.
Parliamentary Secretary Health Khawaja Imran Nazir, DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, EDO Health Lahore Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and other concerned officers were also present on the occasion.
Kh. Salman Rafique further said that due to personal interest of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif and hard work of officers and staff of Health Department Punjab is still a polio-free province. However more efforts will have to be made for maintaining this status, he added.
Kh. Salman Rafique said that the aim of establishing polio vaccination and certification center at airports is to save the passengers from any difficulty who want to travel abroad in any emergency or without any schedule. He appealed to the people to obtain certificate from any nearby hospital or EDO Health office one month before travelling to avoid rush at the airports.
