Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said it was the legal and constitutional right of the opposition to protest over the rigging in the election and government’s poor performance. He said the government and ministers should solve public problems instead of leveling false allegations against the opposition parties and leaders.
In a statement here on Friday, he said the general public was aware of the loot and plunder by the ruling elite leading luxurious living at the expense of the masses.
Liaqat Baloch said that the new Ameer of the JI, Siraj ul Haq, in his address at the civic reception on Sunday, will truly reflect the sentiments of the oppressed sections of the society, including the workers, the women folk, the minorities, government servants and pensioners, and put forth a revolutionary line of action for solving peoples problems.
He condemned the murder of Human Rights Commissions Director, Rashid Rehman at Multan and said this was a big question mark on the performance of the Punjab government and the law enforcement agencies.
He called for an inquiry into the murder with special emphasis on the failure in the provision of security to the deceased when he had been receiving threats.
