Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that Pakistan and Japan have deep rooted relations which will further strengthen in future.
She was talking to Minister Japanese Embassy/Deputy Chief of Mission Takashi Katae and First Secretary Shunichi Amada who met her at her office, here today.
The Minister informed Takashi Katae about the measures taken by the Punjab government for the development and welfare of women in the province. Matters regarding promotion of bilateral cooperation in solar energy, tourism and other sectors were also discussed on the occasion.
Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din said that women constitute 52 percent of Pakistan’s population and every effort is being made to bring them into mainstream of national development so as to benefit from their talent and energies.
Deputy Chief of Mission Takashi Katae informed Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din of the measures taken for women development and eliminating gender discrimination in Japan. He also stressed the need for benefiting from mutual experiences. He said that Japanese women are playing an active role in the progress of the country.
