Lahore: The first turbine of the Nandipur power project, to which criminal negligence was shown in the past, will start production from next month.
Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will inaugurate the project. It may be mentioned that the machinery of the project, which was to be set up at Nandipur, with the cooperation of China, kept lying at Karachi Port for about three years.
During this period not only the expensive machinery became rusted but its parts and cables were also stolen. The present government besides launching other projects of power generation for resolving energy crisis also took measures on priority basis for reviving Nandipur power project and credit goes to Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif who not only held successful negotiations with the Chinese authorities for speedy implementation of the project but also ensured shifting of the machinery to the site of the project within a minimum period and resumption of the work on the project.
Due to round the clock work and tireless efforts, inauguration of the Nandipur power project even before the timeframe has become possible and Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif has once again demonstrated that no hurdle is insurmountable if one is determined and committed enough.
