Homage paid to Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed

Lahore: PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Mujahid Kamran has said that Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed was an honest, dedicated, wise and just administrator and an excellent teacher. He said that his life was like a minaret of light for the students of commerce, banking and finance.

He was addressing a condolence reference to pay tribute to internationally-famed economist, former Pro-VC and founder of PU Institute of Business Administration and Hailey College of Banking and Finance late Prof Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed at Faisal Auditorium here on Saturday.

Senator Jahangir Badar, Dean Faculty of Commerce Prof Dr Liaqat Ali, Dean Faculty of Education Prof Dr Mumtaz Akhtar, Incharge Principle of HCBF Farah Naz Naqvi, Dr Fouzia Naheed, former PU VC Khalid Hameed Sheikh, Prof Azhar Ikram, Prof Ch Nazir Ahmed, ACCA Arif Masood Mirza, ICMA Zia ul Mustafa Awan, Abid Sherwani, Ijaz Ahmed, alumni members, family members, economists, senior faculty membrane, employees and a large number of students were present on the occasion.

Lauding the memorable services of Dr Saeed, the PU VC said that Dr Saeed was an energetic person and he was always ready to cope with any challenge as he was a complete institution within himself. He advised the students to follow the footsteps of Dr Saeed to brighten their and country’s future. He said that a block of HCBF would be named after Dr Saeed and one after Sir Ganga Ram so that his services could be remembered.

Senator Jahangir Badar said that no one in Pakistan could take place of Dr Saeed. He said Dr Saeed had a caring personality and was respected among all the quarters. He said that we must adopt the habit of gaining knowledge like Dr Saeed’s. Dr Liaqat Ali said that Hailey College of Commerce was proud of its student and teacher Dr Saeed. He said that because of Dr Saeed’s day and night hard work, our institutions were being acknowledged at international level.

Farrah Naqvi said that the gap which had been created because of sad demise of Dr Saeed could not be fulfilled. She said that Dr Saeed was not only a respected teacher rather he was true lover of Hazrat Muhammad (SAW) and a true Pakistani. She said Dr Saeed always wore badge of Pakistan on his chest, which expressed his love for the country.

Dr Fozia Naheed, wife of late Dr Khawaja Amjad Saeed, thanked HCBF administration and PU VC for organization a successful ceremony to pay tribute to Dr Saeed. She said that besides being a good teacher, Dr Saeed was a good father, good son, good husband and a good friend.

On this occasion, Zia ul Mustafa announced Khawaja Amjad Saeed Gold Medal while alumni of the college announced two need based scholarships. Later, a documentary was scaled depicting life and struggle of Dr Saeed.
