Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Wheat Procurement Committee Bilal Yasin has said that wheat would be purchased at the government fixed rate of Rs.1200/- per 40 kg and wheat procurement target will be achieved at all costs.
He expressed these views while presiding over wheat procurement meeting in the office of Chief Secretary Punjab today. Chief Secretary Punjab Naveed Akram Cheema, Secretary Food Muhammad Aslam Kamboh, Additional IG Punjab Muhammad Amlash, Additional Secretary Agriculture Mir Muhammad Khatak, Additional IG Special Branch Sarmad Saeed, Chairman PITB Dr. Umer Saif, Additional Secretary Information Rana Fazal Abbas and Director Food Capt. Retd. Usman Younas attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed complaints in the process of wheat procurement and discussed measures for their redressal. Chief Secretary told that the officials of Food Department, Police and district administration are fully active to make the wheat procurement process transparent. He said that the role of patwari has been eliminated. Naveed Akram told that all facilities are being provided to the farmers in connection with supplying bardana and wheat procurement. The meeting expressed its satisfaction that no complaint has been received about the process of wheat procurement.
Provincial Minister directed Secretary Food that the wheat procurement should be continued as per rules and in a transparent manner so that target fixed by the department could be achieved. He warned that no negligence or irregularity by the officials of Food Department in the process of wheat procurement and supply of bardana would be tolerated.
