Surveillance is only solution to complete elimination of dengue: Bilal Yaseen

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food, Bilal Yaseen has said that surveillance is only solution to complete elimination of dengue from Data Ganj Bakhsh Town.

He was addressing Anti-Dengue Workshop held at Town Hall, here today which was attended by TMA Data Ganj Bakhsh Town, Secretary Local Government and Town Officers.

The Minister was informed that the staff comprising 167 persons has been mobilized for curbing dengue in the Town and Secretaries Union Councils will supervise this process in their respective areas.

Moreover, four monitoring cells have been set up for monitoring of surveillance in the houses and mohallas and photographs of surveillance staff will also be taken for record.

The Minister was informed that dengue is a social problem and community action is its solution. He said that war against dengue will be fought in a scientific and organized manner this year.

The Minister said that anti-dengue campaign will be completed in Data Ganj Bakhsh Town within one month and more attention would be paid to the affected union councils of the town. He asked the people to keep their houses neat and clean for checking dengue larvae breeding.

He informed that billboards would be displayed and pamphlets distributed for creating awareness against dengue. He said that the role of political workers is of paramount importance and they should support surveillance teams as volunteers in their surrounding mohallas for making possible access of the teams to the houses.
