Shahbaz Sharif inaugurates International Exhibition at Expo Centre

Expo CenterLahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that due to tireless efforts of Pakistan Muslim League-N government, the economic indicators are improving and foreign exchange reserves have increased beyond ten billion dollars. He said that 2500 megawatt more electricity will be generated during next three years which will provide substantial relief to the masses.

He was addressing inaugural ceremony of South Asian (SAARC) International Exhibition at Expo Centre, here today. He also visited various stalls set up at the exhibition. The Chief Minister gave a special award to industrialist Mian Tariq Nisar on paying highest tax.

He said that foundation stone of coal power plants in Port Qasim and Sahiwal, with the cooperation of China, is being laid next month while the first turbine of Nandipur Power Project will start operating from May and add one hundred megawatt electricity to the system.

Shahbaz Sharif said that honesty and hard work will result in elimination of darkness and an era of progress and development will usher in the country. Addressing Pakistani investors, the Chief Minister stressed upon them to come forward for investment in energy sector.

Shahbaz Sharif said that holding of South Asian International Exhibition is of vital importance for the promotion of regional cooperation as it will improve mutual contacts between the SAARC countries and increase cooperation in different sectors.

Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif remembered in a pleasant mood his old days as President of Lahore Chamber, during his inaugural address of the SAARC International Exhibition held with the cooperation of Punjab government and Lahore Chamber of Commerce.

He said that the sons of his friends of 80s have now become Senior Vice President and Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce & Industry.

He said that it is a good omen that Lahore Chamber is progressing under young leadership. He said that had my friend Mian Ashraf not sold his mill he would have installed his power plant.

He said that it might be much better if the representatives of SAARC countries would have been invited in this ceremony while representatives of SAARC countries were here in labour conference a day earlier.

The Chief Minister said that in order to overcome the energy crisis, the 18 crore people of the country would have to play their active role as “Jugnoo” for eliminating the darkness.

The Chief Minister mentioned the worst negligence of the previous government in Nandipur Power Project and while criticizing said that the Chinese company left the project due to criminal negligence of the previous government and the machinery of the plant rusted at Karachi Port. The Chief Minister read this verse.

The Chief Minister said that our government immediately restored Nandipur Power Project and get the Chinese company ready to start the work and today Alhamdolillah this project is being completed speedily.

When Shahbaz Sharif said that the challenges of the country can be overcome only through hard work the audience seconded the Chief Minister by clapping loudly.

At the end of his address, Shahbaz Sharif said that the day will come when Pakistan will become a greater country.The Chief Minister was presented a special shield.
