Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has asked the female students not to sit at their homes after obtaining degrees and completing their education rather utilize their energies for the development and progress of the society. He said that in this way they could achieve a status in the society besides playing an important role for laying the foundation of a prosperous Pakistan.
He expressed these views while addressing the first convocation of Govt. Degree College for Women Bilal Gunj today. The Minister appreciated last three years’ performance of the college which was set up in 1992. He also appreciated the services of Dr. Naima who changed the whole look of the college.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad said that Punjab government is providing free education from class-1 to 10 besides provision of free books. He said that government is giving subsidy at a large scale which can be judged by comparison of fee between government and private sector educational institutions. He said that our female students are ahead of male students in the educational field.
The Minister said that the PML-N government has allocated 33% quota of jobs for women in government departments. He especially mentioned the role of visiting scholars from Ali Garh University and appreciated their role for creation of Pakistan in 1947 and added that the youth of Pakistan should play a similar role for strengthening of Pakistan.
Later, talking to media, Rana Mashhood said that 2400 government schools will be upgraded this year as per the prescribed standard. He said that missing facilities are being made available in all girl schools this year while this task will be completed in boy schools next year. Rana Mashud Ahmad said that Punjab government has prepared a complete roadmap and all the government schools in Punjab will be made centers of excellence by implementing the roadmap in phases.
