Clash of institutions could heeds towards extra constitutional measures :JI Shoora

Siraj ul Haq 24-04-14 Siraj ul Haq 24-4-14Lahore: The central Shoora of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan, has appealed to the Taliban in the name of humanity not only to extend the ceasefire but also make a categorical announcement that they would not take any unlawful step till the conclusion of talks.

The JI central consultative body which met at Mansoora with the new JI Ameer,  Siraj ul Haq, in the chair, also urged the government and the law enforcement institutions to release the non militants in their custody and take other necessary measures that could make the talks result oriented, and also avoid such steps as could hinder the progress in talks.  It also expressed the hope that the Taliban would also free the people in their custody.

The resolution said that the prevailing tension in the entire region, especially Pakistan and the confrontation between institutions at the time of US and NATO forces withdrawal from Afghanistan was a deep conspiracy and part of the some international agenda.Laqat Baloch 24-4-14

Expressing grave concern over the political situation obtaining in the country and the threats to national solidarity and integrity, the Shoora said it was nothing short of a tragedy that within one year of the assumption of power by an elected government at the federal and the provincial level, there was grave situation of uncertainty and clash of institutions and as a consequence, talk of extra constitutional measures.

The resolution termed the law and order situation in the country as alarming and said the nation was passing through a situation of anxiety and concern because of the killings of thousands of innocent citizens in different forms of terrorism. It said the wrong policies of the rulers during the last twelve years and their blind following of foreign agenda had created a situation of uncertainty and fear, and the idea of the rule of law remained a dream.

The JI Shoora appreciated Prime Minister Nawaz sharif’s strategy to continue dialogue with the Taliban despite heavy pressure from within the country and abroad in line with the mandate given by the APC. However, it said  the nation felt the progress in the talks was negligible, which was bound to create problems and as a result, the situation would be ripe for the advancement of the foreign agencies agenda.

The Shoora criticized the Protection of Pakistan Bill and said it negated the basic rights ensured by Islam and the constitution. It said that controlling terrorism was an important national duty and a common desire. However, it said  giving unlimited powers to the law enforcement institutions and agencies was a highly dangerous move and tantamount to legal terrorism. The Shoora was of the view that the PPO had been adopted in violation of all parliamentary norms and rules simply on the basis of numerical strength of the ruling party. The Shoora counseled the government to abandon anti people policies and refrain from legislation that could create anarchy and dissension in the country and result in hared for the government.

The JI Shoora also expressed deep concern over the grave situation in Balochistan involving human rights violations an foreign interference. It also condemned the PPP-MQM connivance resulting in increasing target killings of JI workers, and said this was something tolerable.

The Shoora expressed concern over Indian leader Narinder Modi’s extremist assertions on Kashmir and urged the world community to take notice of the threats to the Muslim in India and Kashmir, and adopt measures for their  security.
