Lahore: The Punjab Emergency Service (Rescue 1122) in collaboration with Civil Society, NGOs, educational and government institutions commemorated “Earth Day” by organizing Cycle Rallies on Tuesday & conducted awareness activities in all Districts of Punjab.
This initiative aims at making joint efforts to make safe communities to tackle with climate change and to safer communities by creating awareness among general public about the impact of environmental pollution due to excessive energy consumption which is making this Mother Earth polluted and perilous.
The Director General, Dr. Rizwan Naseer said on this occasion that community participation in Earth Awareness Cycle Rally was the symbol of ownership by the community and if joint efforts are not made on priority basis by the general public, media and corporate sector to “Rescue Earth”, the community shall be victimized of such environmental emergencies in the coming years. He appreciated Rescuers and volunteers from different organizations on organizing this “Earth Cycle Rally” to aware general public through seminars, pledge forms, plantation and extra circular activities to build safer communities by adopting preventing measure and green culture in Pakistan. He said that Rescue 1122 welcomes Community Volunteers to come and join hands with the Emergency Service for Safer Pakistan.
Like in other districts of Punjab, the “Rescue Earth” activities were also arranged in Lahore as an awareness cycle rally was started from Central Station, Muslim Town Morr Ferozepur Road, and culminated at Emergency Services Academy. The participants were carrying banners, leaflets, booklets inscribed with awareness information about Earth Day and raised slogans “Lets Rescue the Mother Earth” to create awareness among general public to safe and clean this Mother Land. DG Rescue Punjab Rizwan Naseer, while talking to media, said that this is our land and we have to make it green for our and its safety. He said the day reminds us the importance of climate and clean environment ensures healthy society.
