Pakistan Navy beat Army (White) 3-0 in 9th Nishan-e-Haider Hockey Tournament

Lahore: Pakistan Navy beat Army (White) 3-0 in the opening match of the 9^th Nishan-e-Haider Hockey Tournament at the Muttihullah Astro turf Hockey Stadium.

The match was a one-sided affair as the Navy couldn’t do much hard work to outclass their opponents. Army men showed some resistance in the first half of the match and their goalkeeper saved a couple of hard shots at his chest but forward Mohammed Sabir who received a pass in the D succeeded to score the first goal for Navy in the 29^thminute. At the half time the score was 1-0.

The second half of the match belonged to Navy forward Babar Hussain who netted two field goals in the 63^rdand 69^th minutes respectively to guide his team to win the match. Army men, however, put up a commendable resistance to unleash the pressure of Navy’s forwards but they couldn’t sustain it further and conceded two goals in the last minutes of the match. Earlier, both teams were introduced by the chief guest former Olympian Muttihullah Khan.
