LPC organizes protest against attack on Hamid Mir

Lahore: Journalist community of Lahore has staged a protest against attack on eminent anchor Hamid Mir.The protest was organized by the Lahore Press Club in which PFUJ , PUJ ,local journalists, civil society organizations and political parties representatives participated.

The Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari , secretary Muhammad Shahbaz Mian ,President PFUJ Afzal Butt , Senior Journalist IA Rehman , Shahar Yar Khan ,president PUJ  Waseem Farooq ,president photo journalists Lahore  Iqbal Chaudhry , Imtiaz Aalam , Khawar Naeem Hashmi ,VP LPC Afzal Talib , Senior journalist Shafiq Awan , Anjum Rasheed , Baidar Bakht Butt , Qamar Bhatti , Rizwan Khalid , Khalid Farooqi , Bakht Geer Chaudhry, Asma Jehangir , Abid Hassan Minto,Jugnu Mohsin  , Shafqat Mehmood , Hina Gilani  ,Ijaz Chaudhary  were among the protesters.

At the occasion,they shouted slogans from their throats and condemned attack.They had the opinion that such tactics would not be helpful for bowing the journalists.It was the attempt to create panic among the journalist community but the attackers would not be succeeded in their filthy target.

They said that journalists would continue performing  their professional activities and in any case they would not hide the truth .The protesters demanded that the government arrest the culprits immediate or get ready to face Khyber to Karachi protest movement .

Earlier the Protest rally ,a condemning resolution was passed in the the Lahore Press Club meeting that was held at Nisar Usmani Auditorium .

A large number of leaders of political parties and civil society attended the meeting.  Lahore Press Club President Arshad Ansari d presented condemning Resolution that was  unanimously approved by the house . The meeting also demanded that the government investigate the attack under the supervision of the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court. Meeting expressed full solidarity with Hamid Mir while praying for his complete recovery.
