Lahore: Central leader of Pakistan Muslim League (N) Hamza Shahbaz Sharif MNA has said that Murree will be made the most beautiful city of the country by making cleanliness arrangements of international standard. He said that Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif takes special interest in development and restoration of natural beauty of Murree.
He expressed these views while addressing a briefing meeting about the plan evolved for improvement of solid waste management in Murree. MD Lahore Waste Management Waseem Ajmal Ch. gave a detailed briefing to Hamza Shahbaz Sharif about the plan of the company at Murree.
Hamza Shahbaz said that the environment of Murree is being affected due to tourist activities as a result of which not only its beauty is marring but health of local people is also affecting badly. He said that Punjab government has decided to take immediate steps for coping with this situation due to which not only dream of clean Murree will be realized but local and foreign tourists will also be attracted.
He said that Prime Minister has issued special instructions for not only making Murree an attractive tourist place but also providing all kind of facilities to the local citizens. Hamza Shahbaz said that Punjab government has started Murree Development Project and Lahore Waste Management Company has been directed to provide technical and administrative assistance for improving cleanliness.
Earlier, MD LWMC, Waseem Ajmal while giving briefing about the proposed plan for solid waste management in Murree told that LWMC has started cleanliness work in Murree under short, medium and long term planning. He said that under GM Operations, a special team comprising two managers, four zonal officers, 15 supervisors and 150 workers has started solid waste management in Murree.
He told that this special team is removing garbage from important places of Murree including Mall Road, Kashmir Point, Tehsil Road. He told that complete cleanliness will be carried out in Murree by May 10 and after that under mid-term plan, special teams will identify the necessary places for cleanliness in Murree within three to five months.
He said that steps will be taken for disposing of medical wastes of hospitals through incinerators. He said that a special campaign will also be launched for creating awareness among tourists regarding cleanliness of Murree in which students, local volunteers, private institutions, companies and philanthropists will be included.
Waseem Ajmal told that LWMC will prepare a special system for removing garbage in Murree on daily basis.
