Lahore: A delegation of Indian Old Ravians has reached Lahore on the invitation of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman to attend the 150 years celebrations of Government College University, Lahore. Old Ravians Union Honorary Secretary Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt along with the members of GCU Welfare Society welcomed the seven-member delegation of Old Ravians which includes Indian Air Wing Commander (r) Iqbal Singh, Major General (r) Ramesh Chandra and Brig (r) Harcharan Ghumn.
Speaking on the occasion, Iqbal Singh laid a particular stress on initiating academic relationships between the universities of India and Pakistan to promote love and friendship among the youth of both countries. “We are the last generation in India which has emotional link with Pakistan, but our younger generation knows nothing about Pakistan,” he added.
Iqbal Singh paid tribute to the efforts of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman and Dr Khalid Manzoor to always keep the Indian Old Ravians attached with their alma mater. Eminent Indian author and Old Ravian Pran Nevile, 92, has also arrived to attend the GCU sesquicentennial celebrations
Dr Khalid Maznoor said that these Indian Old Ravians would attend the grand annual reunion of Old Ravians today (Sunday) at the GCU Oval Ground. He said that hundreds of Old Ravians were also coming from other parts of the world including the United States and Canada to attend their grand reunion dinner which would be followed a musical show. He said that Old Ravians could collect their invitations from the union office.
