Lahore: Former Foreign Minister Mian Khurshid Mahmood Kasuri said that the relationship between Pakistan and Russia were not strong as it were with America and China although Russia was wishing to be one of good friend of Pakistan.
He was addressing a seminar organized by Punjab University Department of Political Science and Centre for South Asian Studies on Pakistan’s Relations with Major Powers- Russia, China & the United States at Al Raazi Hall here on Friday.
Chairperson Prof Dr Umbreen Javed, faculty members and a large number of students were present on the occasion. Addressing the seminar, he said that as we can see Russia set up steel mill in Pakistan. He said that else than that they provided us helicopters due to which India protested against Russia.
He said Russia was trying to maintain balance between the Pakistan and India between there were and there are great conflicts between them. He said that Pakistan China relations were very vast and the business of China with India is to 70 billion dollars per annum and China does not want that Pakistan and India have estranged relations.
He said that as China was friendly with both regarding trade so there was no such concept that China was asking Pakistan to be against India because they were working for their imports and exports. Later, several faculty members, students and M.Phil/ Ph.D scholars had over 45 minutes question-answer session with the guest.
