Lahore: Punjab University Law College’s Associate Professor Dr Shazia Qureshi has been appointed principal of the college.
The University Law College was established in 1868 and she is the first lady in the college’s 146-year-old history who has been appointed as its principal. Dr Shazia did her LLM from Cambridge University and obtained PhD from United Kingdom’s Lancaster University.
In her progress report, Dr Shazia’s advisor Professor Sigrun Skogly has written that Ms Qureshi has actually completed her PhD thesis in less than three years, which is “highly unusual”.
Educational, judicial and legal circles have expressed pleasure on her appointment as principal. It is pertinent to mention here that the seat of ULC Principal had been vacant after retirement of former principal Dr Dil Muhammad as no one was at least Associate Professor in the College.
