Lahore: Delegations comprising five federal ministers from Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, Maldives and Afghanistan whereas senior officers and labour representatives from India, Nepal and Bhutan will participate in the first South Asian Labour Conference to be held in Lahore from April 24 to 26 arranged by Punjab Labour and Human Resources Department.
According to the details, Sri Lankan Federal Minister for Labour and Labour Relations Gamini Lokuge and Minister for Foreign Employment Promotion and Welfare Dilan Perera. State Minister of Maldives Muhammad G. Hassan, Bangladeshi Federal Minister Mujibul Haq, whereas Deputy Minister for Labour Affairs of Afghanistan Hasamuddin have confirmed their participation in the conference and Federal Secretaries and labour experts will be accompanied by them.
High level delegation of officers and labour representatives of labour affairs of India, Bhotan and Nepal, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries, employees of South Asian countries, labour and trade organizations have also given their confirmation.
Foreign embassies and missions, Donors, UN Agencies, federal and provincial ministers of other provinces along with Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir, Parliamentarians, education experts, representatives of civil society and media will participate in this conference. Punjab Labour and Human Resources Department has launched a website and phone No.042-99263128 has also been made operational in this regard.
Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry has also arranged an industrial exhibition at Expo Center on the eve of conference in which handicrafts made by Pakistani labour and women workers will be displayed on the stalls of Punjab Labour and Human Resources Department for participants and delegates of the conference.
