Access to justice is fundamental right of every citizen:Omar Ata Bandial

CJ speaking to Laptops Ceremony 16-04-2014 Lahore: Chief Justice of Lahore High Court,  Justice Umar Ata Bandial has said that access to justice was fundamental right of every citizen and Judges were required to endeavour for dispensation of justice in order to ensure peace and tranquility in the society.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice was addressing a laptops awarding ceremony held at Punjab Judicial Academy, here today. Hon’ble Judges Lahore High Court adorning Principal Seat, Registrar Sardar Ahmad Naeem, Director General of Academy,  Sohail Nasir and officers of LHC were also present on the occasion.

The Hon’ble Chief Justice said that rule of law was necessary for good governance and prosperity in the country. He said that judiciary has emerged as an independent and strong institution and also wished strengthening of other state institutions.

Addressing the participants, Hon’ble Chief Justice said that it was his earnest desire to search role models in the institution of justice and today he was happy that a number of role models have sprang up. Hon’ble Chief Justice maintained that a hectic effort spanning over two months has led to the selection of 71 Judges that demonstrated tremendous work, remarkable conduct, integrity, extraordinary disposal and excellent management of the Courts.

Hon’ble Chief Justice said that complaints are pouring in by the advocates regarding uncomfortable behaviour on the part of certain Judicial Officers which needed be addressed. He advised the Judicial Officers that we are neither rulers nor officers but offer services to poor litigants and it was hallmark of our profession.

Hon’ble Chief Justice offered gratitude to Almighty Allah that judiciary of the Province was blessed with Judges of impeccable integrity and these adjudicators of high caliber and impartiality were posted even in remote areas of the Province of Punjab.

Hon’ble Chief Justice gave away laptops to 71 Judicial Officers which include Registrar Sardar Ahmad Naeem, Staff Officer to Hon’ble Chief Justice,  Jawad ul Hasan, District & Sessions Judge (Establishment),  Khaqan Babar and Senior Instructor Punjab Judicial Academy,  Muhammad Amir Munir, D&SJ Vehari,  Abid Hussain Qureshi, D&SJ Faisalabad, Muhammad Azhar Ch. D&SJ Gujranwala,  Tariq Iftikhar Ahmad, D&SJ Rawalpindi,  Abdul Sattar, D&SJ Sargodha Ch.
