Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan has said that there is a rapid shift in the global economic set up and a new digital economy is emerging around the globe. He said that there is a need to impart world class education to the youth through employing the latest technique. He said that Punjab government is fully aware of this fact and taking necessary steps for this propose.
He expressed these views while addressing a reception hosted in the honor of a British delegation led by head of Cambridge International Examination System Michael O’ Sullivan at his residence, here today.
Director British Council Pakistan Peter Upton, Director Examination Services Murray Keeler and other Pakistani experts associated with British Council, besides Vice Chancellor University of Engineering and Technology Lahore Lt. Gen. (R) Muhammad Akram Khan, Vice Chancellor University of Gujrat Dr. Nizamuddin, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Maj. Gen. (R) Muhammad Aslam Khan, Vice Chancellor GC University Lahore Dr. Khaleeq-ur-Rehman, Vice Chancellor University of Veterinary and Animal Sciences Dr. Talat Naseer Pasha and Director COMSATS Lahore, Secretary Higher Education Punjab Abdullah Khan Sunbal, Additional Secretary Shahid Zaman, Additional Secretary Schools Education Ahmed Ali Kamboh, heads of different public sector and private colleges, Chairperson Standing Committee on Tourism Ms Tahia Noon, Ms Kiran Dar, Assembly Members and wife of Education Minister Mohtarma Farhat Mashhood were present.
Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan said that need for youth well-conversant with new communication technology is increasing in every sector in the world including Pakistan and white-collar, middle-class jobs are now threatened by high-powered information technology and highly educated graduates who are being paid handsomely. He stressed the need to develop a world-class education system to have a chance of becoming one of the high-skilled and developed societies that take the competition head on.
He said that Punjab government is ready to benefit from Cambridge International Examination System as well as other methods of education in line with ideological vision of the country and its culture and traditions. He expressed pleasure over practical cooperation of British Council of Pakistan with Punjab government.
Talking to the media, Vice Chancellor University of Health Sciences Maj. Gen. (R) Muhammad Aslam Khan said that the secret of success of Pakistani doctors in America and other developed countries of the world is that the medical education being imparted in the medical colleges of Pakistan has an international approach while another plus point of Pakistani doctors is that they are more fluent in English language than doctors of other Asian countries.
