Lahore: Provincial Minister for Minorities Affairs and Human Rights Khalil Tahir Sindhu has said that there are close contacts between Pakistan and Canada in different sectors which would further strengthen with the passage of time.
He was talking to Ambassador of Canada in Pakistan and Senior Advisor on Religious Freedom Andrew Bennet who met him at his residence, here today. The members of the Canadian delegation also included Christopher Duggan and Angali Lowe.
The Minister apprised the Canadian Ambassador of the steps taken by the Punjab government for the welfare and betterment of minorities. He said that government is striving for the uplift of education and health sectors, women development as well as promotion of religious harmony and brotherhood in the society. He said that a large number of Pakistanis are serving in various sectors in Canada which is a proof of close relations and friendship between the two countries.
Canadian Ambassador Andrew Bennet said that there are vast opportunities of cooperation in trade, education and other fields between Canada and Pakistan. He stressed the need for enhancing cooperation between the two countries and benefitting from each other’s experiences.
