Shehzad Roy calls on CM Punjab Shahbaz Sharif

Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister, Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that a solid policy has been adopted for promotion of education in the province as it is essential for realizing the dream of progress and prosperity of the country. He said that a comprehensive programme of reforms is being implemented in education sector. He said that laptop scheme, internship programme, Educational Endowment Fund, Voucher Scheme of Punjab Education Foundation and other educational programmes are yielding highly encouraging results.

He was talking to prominent singer and founder of Zindgi Trust Shehzad Roy, here today. Shehzad Roy informed the Chief Minister about the efforts of the Trust for the provision of educational facilities to hapless children. The Chief Minister said that Punjab government has adopted a solid strategy for spreading knowledge to every nook and corner of the province. He said that provision of educational facilities to the poorest children is the top priority of the government and special measures have been taken for this purpose.

Shahbaz Sharif said that Daanish schools have been established for providing free of cost quality education to the poorest of the poor children of far-flung areas of the province. He said that such children are also being provided free boarding and lodging facilities at these centers of education. He said that Daanish schools are playing an important role for curbing the trend of extremism in the society. He said that modern education is being imparted in these schools through smart boards.

The Chief Minister said that setting up of Punjab Educational Endowment Fund is a revolutionary step of the provincial government for promotion of education in the province and is helping thousands of poor but talented children in continuing their studies. He said that an important feature of educational fund is that besides Punjab, brilliant students of Azad Kashmir, Gilgit-Baltistan and other provinces are also being benefitted which is strengthening national solidarity. He said that thousands of poor children are also getting education through voucher scheme of Punjab Education Foundation. He said that Punjab government has laid foundation of a educational revolution through solid measures taken in education sector. He said that Zindgi Trust is a good effort for providing educational opportunities to the children of less-privileged families.

Singer Shehzad Roy, while speaking on the occasion, appreciated the services of Chief Minister Punjab Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for the promotion of education in Punjab and said that the measures taken by Punjab government in this regard would yield far-reaching results.
