Lahore: Provincial Minister for Education Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan inaugurated biometric system at Govt. Girls High School Gulshan-e-Ravi Lahore today.
Addressing on the occasion, Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan said that under the leadership of Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, Punjab government has recruited one lakh ten thousand teachers for the promotion of education in the province besides arrangements have been made for their capacity-building. He said that under the vision of Chief Minister Punjab, this computerized system of checking attendance of teachers will be introduced in all schools and this process has been started today.
He said that missing facilities are being provided in twenty thousand public schools during the current year which also include 63 schools of Lahore city. He said that provincial government has planned to provide solar panels instead of generators in government schools of far flung areas having no supply of electricity.
The Minister appreciated the school teachers and the students of the school on showing hundred percent results. Rana Mashhood lamented that 32 lakh children of Punjab do not go to school which include 2 lakh 90 thousand children from the age of five to nine years of district Lahore.
The Minister hoped that teachers of the school would visit every house of the area in order to ensure that no child of Gulshan-e-Ravi remains uneducated. He also visited IT lab of the school.
Senior Headmistress Mrs. Rubina Gull Shabbir thanked the Minister for the grant for setting school lab and said that due to personal efforts of the Minister the number of classrooms has increased from eleven to fifty-eight while six more classrooms are under construction. She further informed that the number of girl students has increased from 180 to three thousand.
The Minister distributed shields among the girl students securing first position in their respective class from G-level to matric level. Special prizes were given to seven position-holder girl students of the school in matriculation examination.
