farmers protest at Multan Road protesting farmersLahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has condemned the police torture on the Kisan Ittehad rally protesting against the trade with India and the hurdles created in their way by the Punjab government.

In a statement here on Tuesday, he said that the government was blindly extending every facility to India that was tantamount to snatching bread and employment from our own people.

He said that good relations with India were desirable but New Delhi itself was responsible for the bitter relations between the two countries that had created numerous problems for their people. Even at present, India, was busy in anti Islam and anti Pakistan activities at the best of the US and was supporting the Bangladesh government in its blatant violations of human rights.

The JI Secretary General said the Pakistani nation’s unanimous demand was that India accepted Kashmir as a disputed territory, stopped atrocities on the Kashmiris and granted them the right to self determination.

Liaqat Baloch counseled the Pakistan government to prepare a road map for the normalization of ties and trade with India and take the nation in confidence in this regard. He said that India must give a firm assurance of non interference in the affairs of Pakistan and other neighbouring countries.

He further said that before allowing trade with India, the Pakistan government must bring down the electricity tariff and  the POL prices on the level of India and also withdraw the undue taxes on pesticides and other agricultural inputs to create an atmosphere of competition.
