Lahore: The Government College University Lahore’s Political Science Department (GCU PSD) has turned 50. A grand annual dinner of the department’s alumni association was held in the university’s Oval Ground on the directions of Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman to commemorate golden jubilee celebrations. Eve Malick, the wife of former Political Science Department Chairman Prof Syed Osman Malick was the chief guest at the alumni dinner which was attended by Punjab Minister Atta Manika, former foreign secretary Shamshad Ahmad Khan, Punjab Public Service Commission Member Qazi Afaq, Aftab Iqbal, PSD Chairman Dr Khalid Manzoor Butt and large number of eminent Old Ravians and faculty members.
Vice Chancellor Prof Rahman has also named the PSD Alumni Association after Prof Syed Osman Malick for his 24 years services as the chairman of the department. The Vice Chancellor said that alumni associations played vital role in development of any educational institution and all the departments of Government College University Lahore were motivating their alumni in this regard.
