Siraj-ul-Haq becomes Ameer of Jamat-e-Islami

Siraj ul HaqLahore: Siraj Ul Haq became Ameer of Jamaat e Islami, Munawar Hassan and Liaqat Baloch were also nominated for Ameer. According to the election commision of the JI,  thousands of voters casted their votes. It could be called a upset as no sitting JI Ameer ever defeated in the JI’s history.Siraj Ul Haq was the first Ameer who defeated the sitting Ameer. According to the spokesman of the Jamaat-e-Islami, Sirajul Haq has been elected as the fifth Ameer of the Jamaat e Islami, Pakistan. The election result was announced by the head of the election team, Abdul Hafeez Ahmed at a crowded press conference at Mansoora Sunday afternoon. The election is a for a five year term. He said that ballot papers were issued to 30759 Arakan (JI Arakan) out of the total of 31301 Arakan and as many as 25,533 ballot papers had been received back. Thus the voting was 85 per cent.
