Punjab has Record wheat production :Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed

Lahore: Minister for Agriculture Dr. Farrukh Javed said that  Punjab has Record wheat production of 19.2 million ton is expected this year in Punjab province.

While talking to a delegation of farmers the Minister said that target of 16.54 million acres of wheat sowing and 19.0 million ton of wheat production was fixed. Whereas, wheat was sown on an area of 16.75 million acres. With the grace of ALLAH, record wheat production target will be achieved due to favorable weather condition and timely guidance of wheat growers regarding modern production technology by Agriculture Department.

Dr. Farrukh Javed said that Punjab Government has finalized procedure of wheat procurement plan. He said that announcement of wheat yield competition and distribution of prizes of tractors and other agricultural implements of worth Rs. 130 million among farmers at provincial, divisional, district and tehsil level will encourage farmers to enhance their wheat yield. He further said that agricultural development is imperative for economic growth of the country. Accordingly agriculture growth and farmer friendly policies are the priority of the Punjab Government.

The Minister said that Government has planned to increase the yield of important crops. In this regard different formations of agriculture department have been assigned targets. Minister for Agriculture expressed great concern about farmers issues and directed the concerned officers to solve the issues on urgent basis.
