Lahore: Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that PML-N government is pursuing a comprehensive public welfare programme under which national resources are being spent on the betterment of less-privileged segments of the society and solid steps are being taken for bringing the low income people into national mainstream. He said that energy shortage has affected economic activities and caused huge loss to agriculture and industry. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif massive projects have been started for bringing the country out of darkness and their completion will not only revive economy but there will also be light in every house.
He expressed these views while talking to assembly members of various districts, here today. Those assembly members who met the Chief Minister included Mansha Ullah Butt, Rana Liaqat Ali, Chaudhary Arshad Javed Warraich from Sialkot, Haji Imran Zafar from Gujrat, Ali Abbas and Chaudhary Iftikhar Hussain from Okara.
The Chief Minister inquired from the assembly members about the ongoing development schemes and problems of their respective areas. They apprised the Chief Minister that elected representatives are personally and regularly monitoring public welfare projects and are fully aware of the pace of progress of these uplift schemes. They said that according to the vision of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, welfare of the masses is being given top priority.
The Chief Minister, appreciating the spirit of assembly members, said that public welfare and provision of basic facilities to the masses is the agenda of PML-N government. He said that funds of billions of rupees are being spent on the projects aimed at provision of facilities to the people. He said that national resources are being utilized on the welfare of poor segments of the society. He said that our every step is aimed at providing relief to the deprived segments and bringing them into national mainstream.
The Chief Minister said that the process of development started in Punjab during previous era is continuing successfully. He reiterated that Punjab would be made an exemplary province with regard to development through hard work and honesty. He stressed upon assembly members to promote contacts with the people and spare no effort in resolving their problems.
Referring to energy projects, Shahbaz Sharif said that generation of energy is our top priority. He said that overcoming energy crisis is utmost essential for keeping wheel of industries moving, promoting trade and economic activities and creating new job opportunities. He said that government is making round the clock efforts for coping with the shortage of electricity. The Chief Minister said that special incentives are being given to the local and foreign energy companies and investors for investment in energy sector. He said that agreements have been made with various international companies for cooperation in energy sector.
Shahbaz Sharif said that for the first time in the history of the country, special attention has been paid to energy generation through cheap sources such as coal and solar power. He said that work on two power plants of 660 megawatt each is continuing speedily. He said that execution of energy projects expeditiously is policy of PML-N government and no compromise will be made on early completion of power projects.
Shahbaz Sharif said that generation of energy from Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park Power Project will be ensured under a phased programme. He said that Punjab government is executing solar project of 100 megawatt at Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park from its own resources. He said that contract of this project will be awarded very soon and expressed the hope that initial production of 100 megawatt electricity will start from Quaid-e-Azam Solar Park by the end of the current year.
Assembly members, paying rich tributes to the development vision and steps taken by Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif for the welfare of common people, said that the Chief Minister has completed development projects aimed at prosperity of the people speedily. They said that Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif is making sincere efforts for overcoming energy crisis and the day is not far off when load-shedding will be eliminated from the country.
