South Asia Labour Conference will help enforcement of international standards labour laws

Lahore: Provincial Minister for Labour and Human Resources Raja Ashfaq Sarwar has said that South Asia Labour Conference will help enforcement of international standards labour laws and common policy making for welfare of

labourers between SAARC countries.

He said this while addressing the concluding session of an advisory seminar of stakeholders at a local hotel before holding Asia Labour Conference.

Provincial Minister for Human Rights and Minority Affairs Tahir Khalil Sindhu, Parliamentary Secretary on Information Rana Arshad Mehmood, Country Director of ILO in Pakistan Francisco, representative of European Union, Zui Lefler, Assembly Members Aysha Ghaus Pasha, Saira Iftikhar, Aalia Aftab, Secretaries of Law, Environment and Forests departments, industrialists of four provinces, Azad Kashmir, Gilgit Baltistan and representatives of traders organization, employers and stakeholders were present on the occasion.

While addressing the seminar, Raja Ashfaq Sarwar said that discussions between the visiting delegations will help understand point of views of employees and the employers. He said that advisory sessions have been held through regional platform of SAARC countries to improve labour market information system, imposition of international labour laws, child labour,

forced labour, exploitation of women workers, social protection system and occupational safety & health affairs.

The Minister told that the inaugural session of South Asia Labour Conference will be addressed by Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif while Prime Minister Muhammad Nawaz Sharif will address the concluding session.

Secretary Labour Capt Retd. Muhammad Yousuf apprised the participants about the overall performance of Labour Department while Commissioner Social Security Farhan Khawaja briefed the participants about South Asia Labour Conference being held next month.
