Lahore: Secretary Forests, Capt. Retd. Javed Akbar has said that the website of the department will be launched within 15 days. He disclosed this while addressing a function held in connection with World Forest Day at Jallo Park today. Senior officers of Forests Department, teachers and students of Lahore College for Women University, students from colleges and schools and people from civil society and other sections of life attended in large numbers.

Secretary Forests said that a plan has been evolved for providing all possible facilities and harmonizing all parks of the province to modern demands through a comprehensive and coordinating planning for improving parks and forests. He said that “OWN A PLOT” projects are being introduced in local and multinational companies under which these companies will be responsible for looking after allotted plots. awareness about the importance of trees and their positive impacts on human life. He said that functions are being held in all tehsils, districts and divisions for this purpose. Javed Akbar said that desired results cannot be achieved without active participation of business community, people and civil society for the betterment of wildlife and uplift of forests. He stressed the need for collective efforts in this regard.

Secretary Forests said that the services of foreign experts are being acquired for providing modern facilities and making all big parks of the province beautiful. He said that such projects are being evolved that the income to be generated from park should be spent on that park.

Later, Forest Secretary led a walk held in connection with World Forest Day in which children of the schools, university students and people belonging to civil society and various walks of life attended. Javed Akbar, officers of Forests Department, university students and school children also planted saplings in Jallo Park.
