Lahore: Provincial Minister for Special Education, Asif Saeed Manais has said that all special children deserve our full attention and love.
He expressed these views while addressing a function held on the occasion of International day of Down Syndrome at National Special Education Center Johar Town arranged by Special Education Department, here today.
The Minister said that this day is celebrated on March 21 every year to create awareness among the people about mental diseases of special children. He said that Down Syndrome transfers from parents to children and children (Mangol) suffering from this disease deserve special attention.
The Minister said that special children are our precious asset and it is our social responsibility that they should not be neglected at all. He said that although special children are deprived of certain abilities but still they can perform like normal children.
He said that Provincial Special Education Department has taken different steps for the education, restoration of children and making them useful citizens of society but along with government, NGOs, civil society, teachers and parents should also come forward and lend a helping hand in the government efforts for the education and training of special children. Earlier, Principal Special Education Center, Amjad Ali Khan presented address of welcome.
The special children presented colourful programmes and tableaus. Secretary Special Education Ambreen Raza, Director Special Education Fazal Cheeama, District Officer Special Education, Shehzad Haroon and other senior officers were present on the occasion.
