Lahore: Minister of State for National Health Services, Saira Afzal Tarar, Minister of State for Information Technology Anusha Rehman, Provincial Minister for Women Development Hameeda Waheeduddin and Minister for Population Welfare Zakia Shahnawaz were present on the stage with Punjab Chief Minister Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif at a function held in connection with International Women’s Day at Aiwan-e-Iqbal.
Compeering of the function was done by a woman. Hafiza Rubina recited verses of Holy Quran while women presented Naats and Qasida Burda Sharif.
A documentary was also shown regarding women displaying outstanding performance in various walks of life which was very much liked by the Chief Minister. A beautiful presentation was given by dramatic society on the theme of ‘Bol Keh Lab Azad Hein Terey’. Singer Saira Raza sang a song “Hamein Hey Tum Per Yaqeen —– Tum Ho Pakistan”.
At the end of the function, the Chief Minister sang a song with women, showing outstanding performance in practical field, regarding progress and prosperity of women and protection of their rights.
During the address of the Chief Minister, the hall resounded with clapping. At the announcement of comprehensive package of far-reaching reforms for the progress and prosperity of women and protection of their rights, women gave a standing ovation to the Chief Minister. The hall was jam-packed with the women at the function.
Meanwhile, Punjab government has appointed Fauzia Waqar as Chairperson Punjab Commission on Women.A notification has been issued in this regard.
