Lahore: Member of MQM Coordination Committee and , MQM parliamentary leader in National Assembly Dr Farooq Sattar said that MQM will hold “Sufi” conference on March 9 in Lahore for religious harmony in the country.He said MQM is not a religious party but it believes in interfaith harmony and respect for every religion and creed .
He expressed these views on Friday,at Lahore Press Club “meet the press: programme. The president of the press club Muhammad Arshad Ansari and Secretary Mian Shahbaz welcomed the guests on their arrival in press club and gave them flowers.
The MQM Coordination Committee members, Amin-ul-Haq, Ahmed Saleem Siddiqui, Wasay Jalil, Haroon Rasheed, Wasim Akhtar, Saif Yar Khan, Members National Assembly Rehan Hashmi, Tahira Asif, Opposition leader in Sindh Assembly Faisal Sabzwari and other leaders were also accompanied him at the occasion. President Lahore Press Club Arshad Ansari, Secretary Muhammad Shahbaz z mian welcomed them .
In his address, Dr Farooq Sattar said that terrorist had made state within state and the government seemed feared of them. Religious parties were exploiting the situation in the name of religion, and arbitrary,he added .
Dr Farooq Sattar said MQM considered that behaviour a conspiracy against the religion so it came forward and started its primary duty to save the nation and the country.
He said that Sufi conference would represent the millions of people and will be fully supportive of a religion of love and peace,hate terrorism and anti-sectarianism. Some people were in state of thought that there would be no movement in Pakistan by any force and they would be able to impose their own brand of Islam in Pakistan,he continued.
Dr Farooq Sattar said Sufi conference will be proved an obstacle against such brand of Islam.
