Punjab government is striving to promote the culture:Minister for Women Development

Minister Women DevelopmentLahore: Provincial Minister for Women Development, Hameeda Waheed-ud-Din has said that Pakistani women artists are highly talented and can fully reflect social issues and their solution through their art.

She was addressing a paintings exhibition of women artists held in connection with International Women’s Day at Tollinton market, here today. Parliamentary Secretary M. Arshad, Dr. Sumaira Javed, Saeed Javed and others were present on the occasion. The Minister said that Punjab government is striving to promote the culture of the province and besides encouragement of artists, financial assistance is also provided to them.

She said that dignity and character of women has been fully reflected in the paintings of the women artists which is a proof of their creative ability. She said that besides the women living in cities, government also attaches due importance to the women living in rural areas and considers women populous which is 52 percent of the total population of the country, a guarantee to national progress and development.A ceremony in multan in connection with international woman day

Creative work of 80 prominent women artists have been displayed in the exhibition. They include Dr. Rahat Naveed Masood, Dr. Shahid Manzoor, Maleeha Azami Agha, Dr. Sumaira Jawad, Amina Patodi, Dr. Maasooma Abbas, Shehla Farooq, Naila Aamir, Mustanzeera Zia and Saadia Qutab Hashmi. The exhibition arranged by Punjab Council of the Arts with the cooperation of Lahore Museum will continue till March 14 from 10:00 am to 5:30 pm daily.
