Lahore: As many as 23 postgraduate students of Government College University, Lahore Wednesday received about Rs1.5 million scholarships by Punjab Educational Endowment Fund (PEEF).
Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Khaleeq-ur-Rahman chaired the scholarship distribution ceremony, while PEEF Senior Manager Scholarships Naveed Akber Cheema and GCU Dean Faculty Prof Dr Islam Ullah Khan were also present.
Addressing the ceremony, Prof Rahman said that these scholarships help students continue their studies without any financial hurdle. Appreciating Shahbaz Sharif’s step, he said that the other provinces should also establish endowment fund trusts for deserving students. “GCU is the only educational institution which has its own endowment fund trust and it also annually disburses scholarships worth millions of rupees among the students from its own budget,” he added.
Naveed Akber Cheema said that the PEEF’s procedure of distributing scholarships was very transparent and that’s why several international institutes were signing accords with it.
