Lahore: Provincial Minister for Food & Chairman Cabinet Price Control Committee Punjab Bilal Yasin has said that Punjab government is giving special attention to progressive farming in order to provide everyday items in abundance to the general public, so that citizens can be provided vegetables at inexpensive rates.
The Minister was presiding over a high level meeting of Cabinet Price Control Committee Punjab at Civil Secretariat during which Provincial Minister for Industry Chaudhary Shafique, MPA Rafi Rajoarda, MPA Abdul-ur-Rauf Mughal, Secretaries of Livestock, Health, Agriculture, Food and DG Punjab Food Authority Asad Aslam were also present.
The meeting was informed that availability of everyday items are being ensured for the general public and strict eye is being kept on the prices to keep them stable. It was informed that 22357 ton daal chana, 620 ton daal masoor, 3624 ton daal mung and 452 ton daal maash was existing in the stock.
Secretary Agriculture apprised that prices of potatoes would be kept stable and its availability would be ensured, while tomatoes would be imported from India to meet the needs of the citizens. He said that mechanism is being evolved to stop selling of unhygienic meat in the city.
The Minister was informed that checking of food, oil and ghee quality is being ensured for which food quality and laboratories would be established. The Minister directed the DCOs of concerned districts to personally review and monitor prices at market committees.
Bilal Yasin said no compromise would be made on the quality of everyday items to the general public and directed setting up of separate checking counters at Sunday Bazaars for men and women for security arrangements.
