Men are responsible for shortcomings in the personalities of women:Farhat Mashhood

Lahore: An awareness seminar regarding Feminine Self-respect was held here today in Shuja-ud-Din Memorial Hall at Government Post Graduate Islamia College for Women, Cooper Road, Lahore in connection with the international women day celebrations. Mohtarma Farhat Mashhood, wife of the Punjab Education Minister Rana Mashhood Ahmed Khan was the chief guest.

Addressing to the seminar, Mohtarma Farhat Mashhood said, it would be partially correct that the male segment of society is responsible for shortcomings in the personalities of our women folk.

She claimed that some other woman always play significant role in making their close fellow women helpless and oppressed. The mindset of male individuals of a family happens to be transmitted from the elder women of the family who had brought up their sons in such a way to transform him into a noble man or a domestic violator.

We should bring up our children according to the Islamic values to avoid many social evils, she added. Mohtarma Farhat Mashhood stressed upon the collegiate students to focus on community development work because the prosperity of Pakistan depends upon the welfare of working women, female industrial and field workers particularly home based female workers who should be provided with social protection.

Our society imposes certain cultural restrictions on working women but we should stick to the teachings of Quran & Sunna and strive for national development and prosperity.

Earlier, Principal Islamia College Mrs. Farzana Shaheen and Head of Political Science Department Miss Halima Naaz Afridi while speaking on the occasion stressed the need for strict implementation of laws regarding protection of women rights.
