Lahore: The Jamiat Ulema Pakistan (JUP-Noorani) on Sunday rejected party elections of its split group of Qari Zawar Bahadur and termed it illegal and immoral saying the intra-party polls of the JUP Noorani have already been held on February 23, 2014.
Talking to a group of Jamiat workers at his Lahore residence, Syed Muhammad Masoom Hussain Naqvi, Chairman of the Supreme Council of the JUP Noorani said the elections of Peer Ijaz Hashmi was a step to further divide the party of late leader Shah Ahmad Noorani as party elections of the Jamiat had been completed at central, provincial and district levels including formation of the Supreme Council of the party. He said Qari Zawar Bahadur group should follow the rules and accept the leadership of Dr. Abul Khair Zubair as he is head of the Jamiat Ulema Pakistan Noorani, a registered political party with the Election Commission of Pakistan.
Syed Muhammad Masoom Hussain Naqvi lamented that Shah Owais Noorani, the son of late Shah Ahmad Noorani was also playing in the hands of the elements waging to break the party for their vicious interests to conceal their corruption of NATO containers scandal during the floods relief. He said the 6 groups of the JUP had already merged giving birth to a broader platform of the followers of the Ahle Sunnat school of thought as Jamiat Ulema Pakistan Noorani.
