Lahore: The Expo Center Lahore, where the grand exhibition is underway under the banner of Punjab Youth Festival, remained the center of stage.
Hundreds of fans of art and craft, engineering and IT, history, handicraft etc visited the stalls keenly. The Indian contingent for Indo-Pak Punjab Games also visited the Expo Center where they took special interest in stalls carrying wooden pots and stone articles. The stalls which were decorated with IT objects offered special attraction for the visitors.
Minister for Sports and Education Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan and Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Mr. Usman Anwar visited different stalls and inspected the arrangements. They examined the Vintage Car Display outside Convention Hall. The organiser of the car display briefed the minister about the vehicles and their major features. Both Rana Mashhood and Usman Anwar also took a brief journey of Pakistan’s first ever sports car on this occasion. In all, 35 cars including BMW, Mercedes, Foxi and Ferari were on display in the exhibition.
The Minister and DG SBP also took a round of stall arranged at Food Festival. The various delicious dishes of Punjab, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Kashmir were presented on the occasion. Talking to media on the occasion, Rana Mashhood admired the passion shown by the public and private sectors and massive interest of the people as well.
To a query, Mashhood said that through Youth Festival, the Punjab Government had provided a suitable platform where youth of the country could exploit their potential adequately. “Now the scenario has changed and we are in a position to present Pakistan’s actual image before the world and that’s the main theme behind the campaign of Punjab Youth Festival,” he elaborated.
The organisers arranged several other stalls including Extreme Coding (Exhibition Hall 2), Aero Mania (outside Span 1 Lawns), Robo Wars (Exhibition Hall 4), Robo Navigation (Exhibition Hall 4). Apart from different stalls, various competitions of debate, naat khani, qirat, essay writing and painting etc were also held under the auspices of Elementary School Education Department at Expo Center.
Head of Indian delegation and a senior officer of Sports Department of Indian Punjab Sardar Vapindar Singh, Chairman Standing Committee of Punjab Assembly on Tourism Ms.Tahia Noon and Director General Sports Usman Anwar were also present on the occasion.
In the exhibition, the biggest lock of the world made by renowned broadcaster Asghar Bahawalpuri attracted the attention of the people. Asghar Bahawalpuri has broken the world record of Sheikh Zafar Iqbal by making a 3-feet high lock of 140kg. The players of Indian delegation showed special interest in the stalls set up by Punjab Small Industries Corporation with the collaboration of an NGO “Aik Hunar – Aik Nagar”. Decoration pieces and utensils engraved with minute carving of stones representing Gandhara art have been displayed at the stalls.
