Lahore: The Punjab government has planned to construct an elevated railway track from Ali Town near Thokar Niaz Baig to Wagha with the technical assistance of the Chinese government to facilitate the commuters in the provincial metropolis. The route of this novel railway track would be from Ali Town to Harbanspura interchange of Lahore Ring Road from where this railway track of shorter gauge will extend to GT Road via Lahore Railway Station leading to Wagha as its ultimate destination.
This was disclosed by the Advisor to Chief Minister Kh. Ahmed Hassan while talking to a 2-member British delegation comprising of Lord Mayor Manchester Naeem ul Hassan and former Lord Mayor Manchester Afzal Khan during luncheon in honour of them at 90-Shara-e-Quaid-e-Azam here today.
Secretary Schools Education Punjab Abdul Jabbar Shaheen, Secretary Sports, Tourism, Youth Affairs & Archaeology Muhammad Khan Khichi, DCO Lahore Dr. Ahmed Javed Qazi, Chief Engineer LDA Israr Saeed, GM Operations Lahore Waste Management Company Khalid Majeed, GM Operations Punjab Metro Bus Authority Aziz Shah and other relevant officers from nation building departments participated in the luncheon.
The British delegation was given detailed briefing on performance, operational model and achievements attained in metro bus service Lahore, anti-encroachment drive and successful youth festival ongoing in Lahore besides a presentation regarding School Reforms Roadmap in Punjab.
Lord Mayor Manchester Mr. Naeem ul Hassan lauded the speedy progress of Punjab during the present regime and said, the world is astonished on seeing a mega project having a gestation period of two years attaining its completion in only 11 months merely due to the hard work and personal dedication of its mentor Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif, the Chief Minister of Punjab. He highly appreciated Mian Shahbaz Sharif for his resolve to provide comfort to the general public and termed it a gigantic success worth following for the other developing countries.
Former Lord Mayor Manchester Mr. Afzal Khan apprised the participants of the luncheon meeting about the successful system of school education under local government of Manchester and informed that the attainment level of the students studying in local schools of Manchester had been better than the average attainment of the rest of Britania on account of the good practices adopted by the strategic level board of Manchester schools which has created connectivity of the syllabus with the job market.
Kh. Ahmed Hassan expressed his confidence that bilateral long standing friendly relations between Pakistan and Britania will flourish in the days to come.
