Rescuers starts learning Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies Courses

Rescue Officers participate in HOPE Courses at Emergency Services Academy on WednesdayDirector (Admin) Brig Dr. Arshad Zia and NHERP officials brief participants of HOPE Courses at ESA on WednesdayLahore: To enhance professional skills of rescuers, doctors and rescue instructors, the Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination, Pakistan has started Hospital Preparedness for Emergencies Courses (HOPE) for rescuers on Wednesday at Emergency Services Academy.

During this five-daylong courses, the skills pertaining to Disaster Risk Management; Disaster Epidemiology and Patterns of Injury, Structural & Non Structural Components, Functional Collapse of Hospitals, Techno Industrial Disasters, Complex Emergencies, Epidemics & Emerging Infections, Mass Casualty Incident, Mass Gathering Medical Care, Principles of Disaster Medicines, Pre-hospital care, Triage, Hospital Incident Command System, Hospital Preparedness Planning, Emergency Department, Hospital Internal Disasters, Onsite Medical Care, Inter Agency Coordination, Disaster Risk Communication, Mass Fatality Management, Psychological Consequences of Disasters and Return to Normal Health Operations shall be imparted among the participants of these courses.

The participants of aforesaid courses include: Regional Emergency Officers Riffat Zia, Dr. Zaffar Shah, District Emergency Officer Dr. Farhan Khalid, Dr. Fooad Shahzad Mirza, Dr. Asif Raheem, Dr. Natiq Hayyat, Dr. Khalid Abdullah, Dr. Abdul Staar, Dr. Tariq Saeed, Dr. Ehtisham, Dr. Azam, Dr. Ashfaq Mian, Mian Muhammad Ahsan, Abrar Hassan, Ms Deeba Shahnaz, Ms Roqiya Bano Javed, Ms Summera Liaqat and others.

DG Rescue Punjab Dr. Rizwan Naseer said that Rescue 1122 is working for establishment of safer communities in Pakistan, as Rescue 1122 has rescued over 2.3 million emergency victims so far. He further said that over 800, 000 road traffic crashes have been reported in Punjab whereas over 50, 000 incidents of fire took place in all districts of the province. Also, Rescue Services have saved losses worth over Rs 148 Billion through effective and professional fire fighting.

Dr. Rizwan Naseer further said that although an effective emergency management system exists in Pakistan, but the community members should come forward and lay their due role. He also appealed to the citizens to identify places where most of the road traffic accidents take place and lack or violation of building byelaws so that we may strengthen the image of Safe Pakistan all over the world.
