Lahore: Advisor to Chief Minister Punjab on Health, Khawaja Salman Rafique has said that all resources are being utilized to eliminate polio from the province. He said health workers are performing their duties in the fields, despite danger to their lives, to administer polio drops to the children.
He expressed these views while administering polio drops in the houses adjacent to M.A.O College in a Afghan Basti near Sagian Bridge on the 3rd day of Anti-Polio campaign, during which Director General Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz, Director Health EPI Dr. Munir Ahmed, EDO Health Lahore Dr. Zulfiqar Ali and representative of Melinda Gates Foundation Dr. Aslam Chaudhary were also present.
Khawaja Salman Rafique informed that more than 39 thousand teams are working to administer polio vaccine drops to 17.5 million children in Punjab. He said that special check posts have been set up at 42 transactional points of the province to ensure polio drops to every travelling children. He said that media has played a significant role in raising awareness against polio disease. He directed health officers to pay special attention to less developed areas and gypsies camps to ensure administration of polio drops to protect malnutrition children from polio virus.
DG Health Dr. Zahid Pervaiz informed that 3172 teams have been formed to administer polio drops to 15 lakh 70 thousand children in Lahore, which are also ensuring that no child is left missing in this regard.
