Inviting Army to impose Martial law is condemnable:Liaqat Baloch

Liaqat baloch Lahore: Secretary General, Jamaat e Islami, Liaqat Baloch, has said that  MQM chief Altaf Hussain’s call to the army to take over after the MQM rally expressing solidarity with the armed forces, clearly implied that the cat was out of the bag.

In a statement here on Wednesday, he said that such politicians were the scar on the face of the country’s politics and they served as the means for martial law,  causing incalculable harm to the country and the nation.

Liaqat Baloch said that the MQM could not carry on its unlawful pursuits such as extortion, target killings, abductions for ransom and land grabbing  without official cover. Unfortunately, he said, the MQM could not make its way into federal and Sindh governments despite its best efforts, therefore, now it was now inviting military rule.

He said that a confrontation between the people and the armed forces was the agenda of Pakistan’s enemies, as this would take the country further away from peace and US and India would benefit.

Liaqat Baloch said that the JI’s clear stance was that a democratic government even though weak and inefficient, was better than a civil or military dictatorship or fascism. The continuation of the democratic process, he said,  would carry the country towards stability. The masses desired peace and end to terrorism. He said that each instance of terrorism whether causing civilian or military casualties, was condemnable.
