Lahore: Pakistan Muslim League (PML) Punjab Senior Vice-President Muhammad Basharat Raja and General Secretary Ch Zaheeruddin Khan have said that the rulers of Punjab have billions of rupees as subsidy for running of metro bus but no funds to provide cheap electricity to the farmer and cheap atta and clean drinking water to the poor, hepatitis has developed into an epidemic disease in South Punjab by drinking of unhealthy water.
Addressing grand workers convention in Multan, the PML Punjab leaders said that when Rescue 1122 Service vehicle, started by Ch Parvez Elahi, timely takes the patient to the hospital, his relatives ray for them but when the patient do not get medicine and attention in the hospital they curse the present rulers.
The workers convention was also addressed by Multan President Mushtaq Ansari, General Secretary Rana Meraj Khalid, President Vehari Ehsanullah Cheema and President Rajanpur Sardar Jamil Dreshak. On this occasion, former President Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaaf (PTI) President Ehsan Chaudhry reposing confidence in the leadership of Ch Shujat Hussain and Ch Parvez Elahi announced to join Muslim League.
Ch Zaheeruddin Khan in his speech further said that politics was the name of rendering voluntary national service, crores of people of the province were even now benefitting from large number of welfare projects launched and completed during the tenure of Ch Parvez Elahi adding that we go to the people on the basis of service and performance.
In his address Muhammad Basharat Raja said poor parents fed up with hunger were jumping in the canals committing suicides along with their children. He asked if the sugar price was increased then why sugarcane price was not raised. He said no project, even half of the cost of Metro Bus Service in Lahore, has been launched and completed during last six years in South Punjab, people and the exchequer were being punished by keeping welfare projects of Ch Parvez Elahi tenure incomplete. He asked the people of South Punjab to rise against the rulers who were not providing them clean drinking water and ask for their rights at least for ensuring safe and healthy future for their children if not for themselves.
On the enthusiastic demand by hundreds of workers participating in the convention, Muhammad Basharat Raja and Ch Zaheeruddin Khan assured them that Ch Parvez Elahi will visit South Punjab very soon.
Earlier on arrival at the convention, the PML Punjab leaders were accorded warm welcome by the district organization. Youth Wing members took out a motor cycles rally, expressed their complete faith and confidence in the leadership of Ch Shujat Hussain, Ch Parvez Elahi and Moonis Elahi and pledged to complete the reorganization of the party in the South Punjab at the earliest possible and paid rich tributes to Ch Parvez Elahi regarding peoples welfare projects of his tenure. Office-bearers, leaders and workers, former Nazims and councilors of Multan participating in the convention described Ch Parvez Elahi as their benefactor for giving them gift of Multan Cardiology Hospital.
Convention was also attended by Information Secretary Punjab Seemal Kamran, General Secretary Women Wing Syeda Majida Zaidi, Traders Wing Punjab President Sh Umar Hayat, President Youth Wing Punjab Ch Zulfiqar Pappan and General Secretary Faraz Awan, General Secretary Labour Wing Punjab Sajjad Baloch and Ajmal Zia Cheema from Lahore.
