Lahore: The preparations for the Pakistan-Indian Punjab Games are on full swing at the various venues of the city of lively persons.
At one hand, excited Pakistani Youth is ready to give warm welcome and to host with great zeal and zest while on the other hand, they have been training very hard for the clashes of titans. A Full Dress Rehearsal was held at the National Hockey Stadium which was participated by around 500 individuals to give final touches to all the arrangements regarding holding the Games in trend-setting manners. The Gymnastic display by a group of players was a feat to watch by all the participants who lauded their superb performances.
Director General Sports Board Punjab (SBP) Usman Anwar was the chief guest at the occasion. Addressing the participants, Mr. Usman said: “Seeing the passion and enthusiasm of the players, I can proudly say that our youth will accomplish the task of breaking 100 World Records. The successful holding of the Punjab Youth Festival (PYF) has not only portrayed positive image of the country to the entire world but has also enhanced self-confidence of the Youth which will help them in future.” He pointed out that all the participants of the World Records, created by the PYF, would be awarded certificates which would be important assets for whole of their lives.
The Pakistan-Indian Punjab Games will get underway from 2nd March while the 99-member Indian Delegation will reach the country on 1st March to take part in Eight different Events Including Wrestling, Bodybuilding, Tug-of-War, Arm-Wrestling (Male and Female), Mat-Wrestling And Kabaddi (Male and Female).
A reception in honour of the participating Indian players will be arranged at the Punjab Stadium in which after the March-Past, Gymnasts will show their skills followed by a cultural programme to display the rich culture of Punjab.
During the Kabaddi Final which was held last year in Indian Punjab, The Chief Minister Punjab Mian Shahbaz Sharif had invited the Indian team to participate in the on going PYF Kabaddi Competitions.
Meanwhile, the practice camps for Kabaddi, Wrestling, Arm-Wrestling, Tug-of-War and Weightlifting Contests are in full swing at different venues of the city. Pakistan players seemed excited and they hoped that they would put in their best to get desired results and earn good name for the country.
